I had been suffering with basal joint arthritis for 3 years when I was referred to Mr Faiz Hashmi. The cortisone injections at this point were only giving pain relief for 12 weeks. Mr Hashmi explained that a simple procedure of removing the basal joint with relieve all of the pain permanently without any further treatment, but it would meen 3 months of physio to build the thumb back up to strength and full movement. From day one of the operation I have been pain free and was out of cast after 2 weeks at which point I was doing light exercises and movements. By 4 weeks I had regained and 75% of movement and build my strength up to about 50% again totally pain free. At 3 months I have now been signed off and have 95% movement back in my hand and with 95% strength gained and and once again totally pain free. I would just like to say that such a simple procedure can totally change change your quality of life back to what most people take for granted. My final word I would like to say is. Thank you Mr Hashmi

I was due to have my finger pinned, which meant that I would not be able to bend it, I wouldn't be able to participate fully in sport. My initial consultation Dr Hashmi decided this was the best course of action. The next day I received a call from Dr Hashmi suggesting a ligament reconstruction in the finger instead. Dr Hashmi has clearly gone away and thought about what was best for me as a patient. I have now fully recovered and my finger is essentially as good as new. The aftercare provided by Dr Hashmi was also exemplary he took the time to understand what I was going through and was very supportive throughout. 10/10 would break finger again and have it repaired by Dr Hashmi.

Mr Hashmi was the specialist I saw when he diagnosed impingement syndrome in my shoulder and recommended surgery. I was immediately at ease with Mr Hashmi who has a very calm, thorough and professional manner. He explained everything very clearly and made sure I understood the problem and all the options available to me and seemed extremely knowledgeable. This was the first surgery I had needed and I don't think I could have been in better hands! I felt Mr Hashmi really wants his patients to be free from pain and made my whole experience very easy and reassuring. I feel very lucky to have Mr Hashmi as my specialist and surgeon and give him the highest recommendation. Many thanks, Ian Tennison
